AOD‑9604 is a synthetic peptide derived from the C‑terminal fragment of human growth hormone (hGH, amino acids 177–191, with an added tyrosine) that is designed to selectively trigger fat metabolism without the growth-promoting or glucose‑altering effects of full‑length hGH. Preclinical studies demonstrate that AOD‑9604 significantly stimulates lipolysis and inhibits lipogenesis in obese rodent models—one study found over 50% reduction in weight gain in Zucker rats after 19 days of treatment, with no detrimental impact on insulin sensitivity.
